Terrible customer service. Went in to buy two bikes this past weekend. It was pouring out, ran through parking lot. Wife and I were soaking wet, still went directly to bike section where at least four employees were present. No one greeted us, nor said anything. We slowly started looking at bikes by ourselves. When I finally decided we needed help, walked over where all four employees were standing around. A gentlemen said someone will be with us shortly, although they weren’t helping anyone else. Another customer walked up and was greeted immediately and an employee started helping them. We just stared at each other for a moment the decided to leave. We went directly to the Trek store and bought two bikes. Terrible decision to not help, but I guess a large corporate store doesn’t care about customer service nor if we spend our money at their store. Save yourself the aggravation and go to a locally owned bike shop or outdoor fun store.
Great store with knowledgeable and welcoming staff. We wandered around and never felt pressure to leave with a purchase. They have a lot of offerings for a spectrum of interest and experience in different outdoor activities. Mitipi and Laddie were GREAT with customer service and quick to offer their boots on the ground recommendations. Mitipi had a great knowledge from personal experience with a couple of the different things we were looking at and let us know about some resources that suited our interests. Good experience!
Excellent customer service every time I go in! Bought a new car and needed new racks for it. So happy with the look, fit, and the member install price as well as the amount of time it took. Robert was great.
I have had the worst year of my entire life this year. I’ve seen deaths and almost saw my own life taken from me more times than I can count. Recovering from a horrible surgery that should have never happened in the first place…I went to R.E.I. this morning. I was a pro sport climber and champ as a teenager….then I put records out and played music before leaving it all behind for the Navy to follow in my Grandfathers footsteps who died the day before I shipped up and out. The kindness from Carly, Jim, the store Managers (two kind ladies I don’t recall the names of) was just enough for me to buy a new pair of pants, briefs and more importantly live through another day of my life which I assure you is more than one Hell week. My entire life has been hell and I love it still because of others just like these living people at REI. You never know how much kindness or encouragement can do for another person. I wanted a pack of lifesavers, but they had me covered. 🛟
For years….I apparently have been buying the wrong size shoe. I was going on a hiking trip overseas that required some good water proof boots. I’ve been extremely frustrated ordering shoes as of late so I went to REI. A lady running the section offered to measure my foot and assist in picking out boots. She informed me I had a wide foot, which was more profound on my left. She brought several options from the back that fit my needs. The Keen boots she selected, felt amazing and comfortable. I wore those boots for two weeks straight. I can’t express how grateful I am.
As usual for stores of this kind the prices are a little higher than some competitors and online stores. But if you are in need of outdoor gear quickly or want to try something on in person this is where I would go. Very good selection of hiking shoes and equipment from every big name you can think of. Staff is also very helpful if you can find anything.
Excellent selection and customer service. Went in just to browse for a new lightweight tent for backpacking. While browsing an employee politely asked if I needed help finding anything. Then, on my way out, he asked if I found everything alright. I mentioned that I found a tent I like but was unable to purchase until it maybe went on sale. Within five minutes, he was able to tell me exactly when it would likely go on sale. Once it did I bought it immediately and I love it. The REI Half Dome SL 2+ tent is insanely lightweight and of great quality. Thanks REI
